I think it's time to care less. We waste so much precious time caring about unimportant things. There is so little of you to go around and so much out in the world to care about. Caring is a great trait - but sometimes we carry the world on our shoulders, and it leads to unnecessary stress. Why care about foolish things that can't be changed? In this post, I would like to provide some perspective on things you should stop caring about today.
When I was younger, the opinions of my high school peers influenced my decisions. Most of the time these decisions drove me away from pursuits and goals I firmly believed. You know what? Dance to your beat! Don't let people influence you by caring so much about their opinion. Unless you're trying to make a great first impression (like you would in a job interview), don't let others' opinions stand in your way. Others love to judge and why should you care if they do? Only you define yourself.
What is right for you may be wrong for me and vice-versa. When we strive to be right all the time we're focused on proving other people wrong. Of course, being right is a good feeling that validates your intelligence, but it can also be destructive. Instead, open your mind to new ideas. Collaborate with others. Care about finding solutions.
“Perfect” is the enemy of the good. Perfectionists set impossibly high standards for themselves and feel discouraged when they fail to meet expectations. It makes them reluctant to take on new challenges, so they continue to thrive only in their comfort zone. Just set high bars for yourself, give 100% effort, and put your best foot forward.
Food for thought:
Perfect implies a state of no change, but every human being needs to change, to improve. You can stop thinking about being perfect by understanding that no one is perfect - and that if you were perfect, you'd take the "human condition" out of you. The beauty of humanity is that we aren't perfect. We change.
Perhaps there is a higher force at work, a power that creates situations beyond our control. Accept this fact of life, and you'll be much better off. If there isn't anything you can do to change a situation or person, then don't waste your talent, energy, and time trying to do it. An individual who attempts to change the unchangeable only creates frustration, anger, and stagnation for themselves. Instead, control your attitude. You can't control what will happen in life, but you can control how you react.
It's a human condition to make mistakes, so accept this fact, learn from it and move on. Reliving memories is a way of punishing yourself for doing something embarrassing. Those memories wreak havoc in the present. They snatch you away from progress. We focus so much on past mistakes that the memory overpowers us, giving this memory the power to instill fear. The Solution? Forgive yourself.
Since time is your most limited resource, it's time to prioritize what you care about. Have you wasted your precious time on the things listed above? That's okay! You can't change what happened. No one can go back in time but everyone can start today and create a new ending.

Call it intuition, instinct, or a gut feeling: if we followed it, we just might be a lot happier. Intuition is a skill we are all born with, but one we submerge in the business of modern living.
